Experience Tamriel unleashed when playing on the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, now live!
We are thrilled to announce that The Elder Scrolls Online: Console Enhanced is now available to download on both the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles. This new version of the game brings a host of graphical and performance improvements free for all ESO players on the current generation consoles. All you need is a copy of the game!
Upgrade Now!
Depending on your platform, the way you upgrade to Console Enhanced will be different:
Xbox Series X|S
On the Xbox Series X|S, Console Enhanced utilizes Smart Delivery to download and install the best version of game for you. If you have instant-on power mode and auto-update games enabled, Smart Delivery will upgrade you to Console Enhanced in the background automatically. Otherwise, a prompt will appear when playing or launching the game to initiate the update. For more on Smart Delivery, see this FAQ.
PlayStation 5
On the PlayStation 5, navigate to the PS5 version on the PlayStation™Store by either using the overflow menu “(…)” on the ESO game hub or by opening the PlayStation Store and searching for “The Elder Scrolls Online: PS5 Upgrade”. You can then begin the download from the PS5 product page. Note that you may have to go through the normal purchase and install process as if you have purchased a new game (it will be free).
Performance and Fidelity Modes
As part of Console Enhanced, you will have two unique modes that allow you to choose what kind of experience you want to have when playing ESO on your current-generation console. Performance mode emphasizes frame rate, enabling 60FPS at 1440p resolution, while Fidelity Mode focuses on visuals, enabling 4k resolution at 30FPS. You can switch between these two modes at any point from the Settings menu.
Here’s a complete breakdown of the different visual and performance options available with each mode for current-generation consoles:
Xbox Series X & PlayStation 5 Fidelity Mode

Free for ESO Players
As mentioned above, Console Enhanced is a free update for ALL ESO players on current-generation consoles. Even if you currently own the game but do not have an Xbox Series X|S or PlayStation 5, if you do choose to upgrade to those consoles, you can then download this free upgrade using the steps above. If you’re a brand-new player and purchase ESO on your current-generation console, you’ll automatically receive the Console Enhanced version of the game, too!
Thanks to Console Enhanced, Tamriel has never looked better on Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and we can’t wait to see how the community reacts to this new version of the game. We’ll see you in Tamriel!
